Water Quality Testing Application Cases for Swimming Pools and Spas

Application Details

Application Background

Swimming pools and SPAs have become accessible venues for exercise and recreation for a growing number of people. To ensure a safe and healthy water environment, the top priority is to maintain water quality standards during peak usage periods. As crowded public places that are highly susceptible to disease transmission, swimming pools are crucial to public health and hygiene. However, many swimming pools lack rigorous self-monitoring of disinfection and hygiene conditions, with inadequate disinfection measures in place. When conducting water quality testing for swimming pools and SPAs, the measured parameters include residual chlorine, turbidity, pH value, ammonia nitrogen and other indicators. As a water quality testing specialist, VVNA can provide users with comprehensive testing solutions for residual chlorine, turbidity, pH value, ammonia nitrogen and other parameters.

Necessity of Water Quality Testing for Swimming Pools and SPAs

  1. Health Supervision Departments: It is necessary to conduct water quality testing on indoor swimming pools and SPA pools, supervise compliance with water quality standards, prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases, and safeguard public health.

  2. Swimming Pool and SPA Operators: Self-testing is required to meet the standards set by health supervision departments. In addition to satisfying regulatory requirements, good water quality enhances the user experience, thereby attracting more patrons. It also helps reduce operational costs by protecting pool structures and auxiliary facilities from damage caused by improperly treated water, as well as optimizing the dosage of water treatment chemicals.

Application Overview

A local health supervision bureau conducted water quality testing on over 800 swimming pools. Various portable water quality analyzers provided by VVNA played a vital role in the testing, including the VN3100 Turbidimeter, electrochemical analyzers for parameters such as pH and conductivity, and residual chlorine analyzers.

During the tests, inspectors collected swimming pool water samples into cuvettes and placed them into the instruments for analysis. The entire process was accurate, rapid and user-friendly. By comparing the test readings with national standards, inspectors could determine whether each parameter in the water exceeded the specified limits.

Parameters:

General Measured Parameters

  1. Residual Chlorine

  2. Turbidity

  3. pH Value

All the above parameters must meet international standards to ensure the normal operation of swimming pools. Other Required Measured Parameters

  1. Ammonia Nitrogen (Due to frequent urea exceedance in many swimming pools, ammonia nitrogen has also been included as a testing parameter)

  2. Bromine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, free copper, total copper, TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), chlorides, etc.
